Dermal fillers work to restore a more youthful appearance by adding volume to areas where the skin has lost firmness.
They smooth out deeper lines and wrinkles, such as those from the nose to the mouth, enhance cheek contours, and add fullness to the lips. These fillers can also be used to treat scars and other facial imperfections.
As we age, our facial skin gradually loses elasticity and begins to sag, but deeper changes in the layers of the skin also play a role in the ageing process. The bone and soft tissues degenerate, especially in the mid-face and this leads to flattening of the facial features.
At Cassio Road, we use thicker Dermal Fillers for non-surgical cheek augmentation, which restores lost volume while improving skin structure and elasticity.
These smooth fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar complex found in human skin that helps hydrate and retain moisture. Specially formulated for deep application, these fillers add natural-looking volume to the midface and cheekbone areas.
Lip Enhancement applications use Dermal Fillers to precisely target areas of the lips and surrounding skin, aiming to enhance, shape, and add volume to the lips while minimizing adjacent wrinkles – for both men and women. Lip Fillers help balance and harmonize uneven lips, creating a cohesive look with other facial features.
We understand that many patients worry about achieving an unnatural or overdone appearance, and we share that concern. We ensure that the results will look natural and well-proportioned.
Perfecting the lips often involves more than just increasing their size. It’s essential to address the surrounding skin as well—this includes filling fine lines above and below the lips and correcting the “nose-to-mouth” lines that frame the mouth. Addressing these areas is crucial for maintaining overall facial harmony.
As we age, the corners of the mouth can sag, leading to a perpetually downturned expression. Dermal Fillers can lift the corners, creating a more uplifted and positive look—without an exaggerated appearance.
First, we’ll discuss your goals to understand what you want to achieve. Based on your anatomy, we will provide an honest assessment of what’s possible. We take photos to track your progress over time. Depending on your needs, we may use a numbing cream, an anaesthetic, or both; our fillers now come pre-mixed with local anaesthetic and may not require additional numbing for many patients.
The procedure typically lasts about 30-40 minutes. Post-treatment, your skin and lips might be slightly swollen for 3-5 days, so it’s advisable to schedule accordingly if you have a special event coming up. Applying an ice pack to your skin and lips afterwards can help reduce swelling and minimize bruising.
The dermal filler we use is a soft, clear, biodegradable Hyaluronic Acid (HA) gel, which naturally occur in the body’s joints and skin. These gels bind with water molecules once applied, providing both moisture and plumpness to the lips. No allergy testing is needed with these naturally occurring fillers.
The effects of dermal filler are temporary, as the body eventually breaks down and absorbs the filler. The duration of results varies among individuals with most patients seeing results lasting around 6-9 months for lips and anywhere between 6-18 months for midface.
After your treatment, we will go over aftercare guidance to ensure you get the best results and avoid any unwanted side effects.
While dermal fillers are generally a low-risk procedure, individual reactions can vary. Common risks include redness, bruising, swelling, minor discomfort, tenderness, and infection. Following the lip augmentation procedure, in particular, you might experience some pain and swelling, which typically lasts a few days. In rare cases, swelling and redness may persist for up to two weeks. Occasionally, the procedure may trigger a recurrence of cold sores, for which anti-viral medication may be prescribed.
As the active ingredient in your treatment naturally attracts water, you may experience some swelling. Don’t worry, this will subside after the first 24 hrs. It is advised to avoid strenuous exercise and temperature extremes until any swelling is resolved.
Most patients can return to their normal activities after treatment, but it’s advisable to schedule your first session at the end of the day or week to allow time for any initial swelling or discomfort to subside.
